
Here’s what I typically take for a 2-day trip of easy mountaineering at 3000m in Japan (sleeping in a mountain hut):

- Thermal Buff (head)

- Cat-IV sunglasses
- Down trousers (for the hut)
- Down booties (for the hut)
- Footwear
- Double mountaineering boots (La Sportiva G-Summit)
- Climbing crampons (Petzl Lynx)
- Microspikes
- Climbing gear
- 50 or 60m rope
- 2 x axes (Petzl Quark)
- Harness
- Belay/rappel gear

- 3 or 4 slings
- 3 or 4 HMS extra screw gate carabiners

- 10m of tat and some Quicklinks in case I need to make (and leave) an anchor
